Out This Week – 15th May 2017

With MCM London Comic Con almost upon us, we struggle to pull ourselves back to the reality that we still have just under two weeks to go. To help with the excitement though remember that Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry will be hitting cinemas nationwide this Wednesday, more information on that here. Also, don’t forget that a limited number of Showcase Cinemas will be screening A Silent Voice for those that are hard of hearing tomorrow the 16th May, more info here. With that out of the way let’s get into what this week has to offer when it comes to anime, manga and game releases.

We have a rather good selection of anime release this week and with start with MVM Entertainment’s entry and that is Amagami SS Season 1 Collection which includes the full 24-episode first season plus 2 special and comes to Blu-ray and DVD.

Animatsu Entertainment releases the sequel to Gatchaman CrowdsGatchaman Crowds Insight which comes as a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack. Sister company Manga Entertainment continue their long-running ninja themed hit with Naruto Shippuden Box Set 28 on DVD. Also from Manga Entertainment is the latest movie in the long running Pokemon series, Pokemon The Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel which makes it’s way to both Blu-ray and DVD, you can read our review for this release here.

Last but by no means least we have the My Hero Academia: Season One Limited Collector’s Edition from Funimation and distributed in the UK via Universal Pictures UK. This Limited Collector’s Edition comes as a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack plus includes plenty of goodies that you would expect from a Collector’s Edition release. You can see our thoughts on the set itself in our unboxing article here which is full of up close photos and a hands-on video.

Another modest selection of manga releases once again with only a handful of titles coming to retail including Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Art of the Cards, Cage of Eden, Clockwork Planet, The Heroic Legend Of Arslan and One Piece.

Akiba’s Beat, the third title in the Akiba series comes to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this week courtesy of PQube. Idea Factory International release their latest Otome Visual Novel, Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds on PlayStation Vita and NIS America release the sequel to Operation Abyss, Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy also on PlayStation Vita.
