MangaUK/Animatsu’s Andrew Hewson Announces Future Diary For The UK!

2

Earlier today we had the chance to sit down and conduct a short interview with the Marketing Manager for Animatsu EntertainmentAndrew Hewson.

Animatsu-Promo-Photo-smaller(19)Q. What are you most looking forward to this year?

A. There’s a couple of releases that we’ve already announced at London MCM Comic Con, like Dragonball Z: Resurrection of F, which I’m pretty excited about – we have some great ideas planned for this release! Both A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun will be quite an interesting release considering they are around six or seven years old. Knights of Sidonia is another, available from August 17th but you can pre-order it now (shameless plug)! This is a great show and we will be giving it the deluxe treatment, the Blu-ray edition will come in a rigid box with art cards, double sided poster, sticker and a massive amount of on disc extras.

There’s also some cool stuff in the pipeline that we can’t entirely discuss just yet, but I guarantee fans will be pleasantly surprised and very happy with what we have in store. More soon…

MANB8721_BD_Collectors_Knights_of_Sidonia__3D_Comp_HOLDING_IMAGE1Q. What’s the best part of your job?

A. The best thing is probably how diverse my job is, not only do I get to work on some great releases, but I also get to go to comic conventions around Europe, have face to face interaction with the fans and also speak on panels – which is always good fun! Travelling as well, I get to go to most of the film markets around the world, Tokyo, LA and Cannes, which is exhausting but extremely fun! Also, with the current direction Animatsu is heading, I’ll get the opportunity to explore different and very cool avenues within the industry.

Q. Which release are you most proud of?

A. There’s a few I’m really proud of, Halo: Nightfall was a recent highlight because that was the first Animatsu release and it felt like a great statement of “we’re here with our first title and determined to make it a success” and it paid off! The sales were fantastic; it was number two in the new release chart just behind Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. So for our first release that felt really good. I’m also big fan of Akira, so when we released the 20th anniversary steelbook along side a limited theatrical with Picturehouse Cinemas, that was quite special as that movie not only introduced me to anime but also the western world. I’m also very proud of the collaboration with Mondo for the re-release of Ghost in the Shell, we collaborated on two limited edition posters which were exclusive to San Diego Comic Con and Mondo Con.

Q. Is there anything else you can tell us, any Future releases?

A. It’s funny you should ask! I’m happy to announce that Manga Entertainment will be bringing, on behalf of Kaze, Future Diary (Mirai Nikki) to the UK! It will be released in two parts with both expected to be out in Q4 of this year. So watch this space for a confirmed date and I hope you guys are as excited about it as we are.
